Volgens Biltereyst & Vande Winkel (2009), had het Franse Pathé in 1908 een onderafdeling in Brussel geopend voor de distributie van hun format van gefilmd nieuws. Moest in mei 1943 haar Belgisch filiaal sluiten omdat het niet voldeed aan de eisen van de Syndicate Chamber die stelde dat enkel distributeurs met een catalogus van minstens 11 films een vergunning kregen. De films waarover ze beschikten werden niet verkocht maar geconsolideerd in een nieuwe consortium genaamd Cinégroupe. Waarschijnlijk na het vertrek van de Duitsers in 1945 opnieuw begonnen.
